Press Release
Important News from the Board of North of England Excellence
All Change at North of England Excellence |
We have three important announcements to make:
Firstly, August 31st 2006 marked the retirement of the North of England Excellence Chief Executive, Dr John Swaffield MBE. John has served this company with great distinction over the last six years, developing it through to the state of considerable stability that has made the transition to North of England Excellence possible. The Board is very grateful for John's superb contribution to the region through his stewardship of the company and wishes him well for his retirement in the knowledge that he will now be spending even more time at his home in Cyprus.
We are in the process of appointing a new CEO, who will become the founding CEO of North of England Excellence.
Secondly, our founding Chairman, Clive Jeanes OBE, has decided to step down after 12 years service. Everyone associated with the European quality and excellence movement recognises Clive as a giant amongst practitioner role models; he being the driving force behind Millken Europe's success as the second winners of the European Quality Award in 1993. A passionate believer in Excellence, Clive has put so much back into the movement since his retirement from Milliken and his contribution will be sorely missed.
We are delighted that both Clive and John have agreed to remain on the Board of North of England Excellence in a non-executive capacity through to the formation of North of England Excellence. |
Finally we are pleased to announce that Paul Evans has been appointed Chairman of North of England Excellence for the period up until North of England Excellence comes fully into being.
Paul is a long standing member of the Board, and Director of Business Excellence at Liverpool John Moores University. He has more than 20 years experience of quality and change management in industry and the university sector, and has worked extensively with the EFQM on various projects, including process benchmarking, model review, and assessment process review. He has also acted as a senior assessor for the EFQM Excellence Award for several years, leading assessment assignments throughout Europe. He is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development and an Associate of the Institute of Quality Assurance. Paul, his wife Christine and their four dogs live in North Wales.

Press Release
North of England Excellence is on its way!
An important announcement from the Board of North of England Excellence |
North of England Excellence was formed in 1994 and has become one of the most successful regional excellence organisations in the UK. It has a strong and stable membership; a high profile and prestigious annual awards ceremony; the ever popular excellence forums; and strong, excellence related training and support products for members and non-members alike.
For some time now the Board of North of England Excellence has been considering how best to engage with the broader interests of the North of England. We are therefore delighted to be able to announce that we have agreed with the Board of Excellence Yorkshire to create a new company servicing the whole of the North.
To be known as North of England Excellence, the new company will be based around the existing infrastructure of North of England Excellence. We will continue as a “Not For Profit” organisation. As part of this development we will continue to secure our base of permanent staff whilst expanding our network of associates and establishing additional partnerships. All this is designed to create a new company with significant support and access to as wide a portfolio of services and products as possible for the benefit of all organisations in our expanded area. |
We are at the start of the process; we are creating the company, appointing the board, and carrying out all the other activities that are necessary to “get it all going”. With regard to a formal announcement, we envisage that this will take place at the North of England Excellence Awards ceremony to be held in Bolton on Tuesday 7th November 2006.
In the meantime, we continue to offer our usual level of support from our Warrington Office - North of England Excellence, International Business Centre, Delta Crescent, Warrington WA5 7WQ (telephone 01925 715245) - which will become the base for the new company. Please be assured that this period of transition will be seamless from the perspective of our members and clients, and that our services will continue uninterrupted through to the formation of the new company. Memberships will transfer automatically.
Thank you for taking the time to read this update. We will keep you in touch with developments. In the meantime, your continued support of the company is greatly valued, and we in our turn will continue to offer our support to your own pursuit of excellence.
